Max was born in 1995 in Berlin. Just a few years later he moved to Nürnenberg where he went to school and trained as a metal worker. After school he studied both history and art history and in 2019 he began to study painting at HFBK under Anselm Reyle since 2020.

 

The Work “:)” is a combination of three paintings, each of different sizes. They show the process of forming a painting from the first color concept and overall atmosphere in small scale to a bigger format. The subject of those paintings is a meme. During the times of the pandemic it was very hard to find inspiration in real life. While being stuck at home, scrolling through his instagram feed was one way to feel connected to others, so he started to use memes as references.
