Machines roam, excavators dig, trucks roll in. Wooden planks bridge gaps, stones pile up, dust hovers. Mezzanine is a liminal space, like the new atelier house surrounded by a construction site.
From the Italian mezzano (“half”) and Latin medius (“middle”), mezzanine is an opportunistic architectural gesture, once used to store goods or house servants, quietly bridging grandeur and function.
