Unemployment Sofa

Wood, faux leather, padding

2025

Unemployment Sofas reimagines the logos of governmental employment agencies across Europe by transforming them into functional seating. By turning bureaucratic systems into soft, utilitarian objects, the work reflects on institutional dependency and youth disenchantment.

These logos aesthetics associated with control, governance, and identity, are extruded into padded poufs, converting rigid systems into comfortable furniture. The systems meant to support become places to sink into.

The sofa becomes a metaphor for the waiting room, a neutral space where time stretches and potential remains unused.
